Any business that wants to get money from consumers knows that advertising is the key to good marketing. Any product or service that is available on the market needs to be seen in order to be bought.

When a product goes unadvertised it is generally left up to a shopper to stumble upon the product, or to be recommended by a friend. Using this method alone is a very poor way of spreading the word about the product. The company needs to use a much more active approach.

In advertising a product, the company is doing a number of things. First it is making the public aware that such a product even exists. Then it is providing information about the product. And thirdly it is creating interest in the product.

When a new product is advertised on posters or the packaging of a similar product sold by the same company, interest is roused in this new product. Many people decide to try something new at least once, if they are intrigued by what they have seen in the advertisement. If they like the product, of course, they will buy it again, and hopefully become a continued buyer.

All of this came about because of advertising. The advertisement itself has to be something catchy. It has to have the right color scheme and images to create interest. Putting this image together is the job of the graphic designer.

The graphic designer is briefed on the product and expectations of the company for the image. Then the designer creates from scratch an idea of what the image should look like. He shares this with the client, and listens to feedback from the client. Then, with this concept ready, he gets to work to put it together.

His image may include elements of color, pictures, and words combined in a way that is memorable and conveys the desired message. Photoshop graphic design may be used to create an image of the product and show it in the most attractive way. This image may be for use in printing as on product packaging, in a magazine or on a poster. It might also be prepared to display online or a motion design can be created for television or Internet advertising.

When the image is completed, it is printed or otherwise presented to the public. This starts the awareness of the new product immediately. As more and more people see the product they will recognize it in stores and will be more likely to purchase it, as they have some previous knowledge of the product.

With the use of good advertising, produced by a competent graphic designer, a product can go from being unknown to a popular favorite. It is all a matter of presenting the product in a positive way, and getting the interest started.
